Visiting Egypt in September
Climate and weather guide
September
Temperatures are finally starting to drop again during September but it’s still hot this month; expect similar weather to June, ranging from around 30C in Alexandria and 34C in Cairo to 39-40C in the south. It’s one of the best times to head to the Red Sea, after the summer visitors have left but before the peak months ahead – water temperatures are around 27-28C, so it’s ideal for snorkelling and diving too. You’ll still need to plan around the scorching heat of the afternoon, but tourist numbers are still low and it’s not quite as overwhelmingly hot as the summer months.
