June

June sees the start of the searing summer heat, but the crowds have vanished and the highest temperatures are yet to arrive, so if you can tolerate the heat, you can enjoy lower prices and quieter sites. As Egypt has low humidity, the dry heat means the temperatures can feel more bearable although you’ll want to find shade during the middle of the day – there are highs of 40C in the south of Egypt, around 35C in Cairo and 30C in Alexandria too. Many attractions open early and close late, so it’s perfectly possible to visit the sights when it’s a little cooler. It’s busier around the Red Sea and Mediterranean beaches, with many local families taking their holidays this month, and the water temperature has crept up to around 27C this month, if you’re planning to snorkel or dive.
