Like July, August sees the mercury rise with temperatures topping 40C in Luxor and Aswan, and hitting the mid 30Cs in Cairo once again. However, the big crowds have also melted away this month, so if you can handle Egypt’s dry heat or plan your days to avoid the worst of it, you’ll enjoy much quieter sights too. Air con or a swimming pool are the best options for the hot afternoons, while you can make the most of early and late opening hours for the ancient sites.
