Visiting Egypt in April

Temperatures continue to rise throughout April, into the mid 30Cs in Upper Egypt, around 30C in Cairo and 24C in Alexandria, so you’ll need to start planning your days to avoid the hottest period of the day. Mornings and evenings are now much more pleasant, with lows of around 15-17C across the country and you’ll be very unlucky to experience any rain. Easter is one of the busiest times to travel in Egypt, so you can expect busy sites and high prices. Sandstorms known as the Khamsin wind, or khamseen, do sometimes sweep across the country for a few days during April, which may restrict swimming or smaller boats from sailing, but it’s usually only unpleasant rather than likely to cause major disruption.
