Visiting Egypt in December
Climate and weather guide
December
When the UK and northern Europe shiver, Egypt remains sunny, so it makes a fantastic winter sun destination with some added culture. While you might find some limited rain showers in Cairo and some wetter days in Alexandria, the weather is mostly dry and sunny this month with daytime temperatures reaching around 20-25C – perfect for strolling around cities and ancient sites. It does get much cooler overnight though, so you’ll need layers for the early morning and evenings. Peak season is now firmly underway, and Egypt is very busy over the Christmas and New Year period, including school holidays, so you need to book ahead and can expect prices and crowd numbers to rise.
