Visiting South Korea in August
South Korea in August
August is South Korea's hottest month, with Seoul and the south coast both regularly climbing past 30°C alongside high humidity. This is peak beach season, especially around Busan's Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches, and city parks and rivers fill with locals cooling off in the evenings. Up around Seoraksan National Park, the mountain air offers a welcome few degrees of relief if the heat gets too much. The monsoon rains usually ease off as the month goes on, giving way to hazy, hot summer days perfect for iced coffee, patbingsu (shaved ice dessert), and long evenings out as the heat of the day fades.
