Day 1 – Arrival in Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! On arrival at Cairo airport, you’ll be met by our local representative, who will be holding a sign with your name. They’ll help arrange your visa on arrival and guide you through the airport, making your family’s arrival as smooth and stress-free as possible.
From here, you’ll be transferred to your hotel close to the Pyramids of Giza. With a swimming pool, spacious rooms and easy access to some of Egypt’s most famous sights, it’s a comfortable base for the first few days of your adventure.
Depending on your arrival time and energy levels, the rest of the day is yours to relax after your flight. Take a dip in the pool, enjoy a family meal at the hotel or simply settle into your surroundings. Tomorrow, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the pyramids and uncover the fascinating stories of ancient Egypt, so today is all about easing into your adventure.
Day 2 – Discover the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, Memphis and Saqqara
After breakfast, it’s time for one of Egypt’s biggest highlights: the Pyramids of Giza. You’ve probably seen them in books, films and school lessons, but standing beside them in real life is something else entirely. Their sheer size is guaranteed to impress both children and adults.
To help bring the site to life, you’ll be joined by a local guide who knows all the fascinating stories behind these ancient wonders. How were they built? Why were they built? And what secrets are archaeologists still trying to uncover today? Expect plenty of fun facts and opportunities for curious young explorers to ask questions along the way.
For families with older children, there’s also the option to step inside the Great Pyramid of Cheops for an additional fee (around £20 per person). Following narrow passageways and wooden walkways into the heart of the pyramid feels a little like embarking on your own archaeological adventure. It can be warm and enclosed inside, but for many visitors it’s an unforgettable experience.
Entrance fees are paid locally and are not included in the trip price.
Next, you’ll visit Saqqara, home to Egypt’s oldest pyramid and one of the country’s most fascinating archaeological sites. With fewer visitors than Giza, there’s plenty of space for children to explore as your guide brings the story of the famous Step Pyramid to life and explains how it became the blueprint for all the pyramids that followed.
You’ll then continue to the ancient city of Memphis, where giant statues and an enormous alabaster sphinx offer a glimpse into Egypt’s former capital. Afterwards, you’ll return to your hotel, with plenty of stories to share from another day exploring the world of the pharaohs.
Day 3 – Grand Egyptian Museum tour
Today, you’ll dive deeper into Egypt’s fascinating past with a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Located close to the Pyramids of Giza, this spectacular museum is one of the largest archaeological museums in the world and brings thousands of years of history to life for visitors of all ages.
As you explore the bright, spacious galleries, you’ll come face-to-face with giant statues, ancient mummies, beautifully decorated sarcophagi and intricate jewellery. There are plenty of stories to capture children’s imaginations, from powerful pharaohs and hidden tombs to ancient gods and mysterious hieroglyphics. Large windows throughout the museum also offer views towards the pyramids in the distance, linking the treasures inside to the monuments you’ve already seen.
A highlight for many families is the collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures. Seeing the famous golden mask, elaborate sarcophagus and other artefacts discovered in his tomb makes it easy to imagine what life was like in ancient Egypt. It’s a fascinating and interactive way to bring everything you’ve learned about the pharaohs to life.

Swap the city for vast desert landscapes as you travel by 4×4 through sand dunes, past waterfalls and into the extraordinary Valley of the Whales, where ancient fossils tell the story of a prehistoric sea that once covered this region.
As the sun sets, you’ll arrive at a traditional Bedouin camp deep in the desert. After a home-cooked dinner and stories around the campfire, spend the night under a blanket of stars in your tent or Bedouin hut. Speak to your travel specialist for more information.
Day 4 – Onto the Red Sea
Today, you’ll be collected from your hotel and taken to the airport to catch a short flight to Hurghada, where a transfer will be waiting to take your family to the coast in less than an hour.
Once you arrive, it’s time to swap temples and pyramids for sun, sea and sand. You’ll stay at a family-friendly beachfront resort on an all-inclusive basis. With several swimming pools, a private beach and plenty of space for children to play, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after exploring Egypt’s ancient wonders. Food, drinks and snacks are included, so all you need to do is decide whether to head to the pool, the beach or both.
Days 5 & 6 – Free time on the Red Sea
We’ve left your time on the Red Sea free, so your family can decide exactly how active, or relaxed, you’d like these days to be. After exploring pyramids and uncovering the treasures of the Grand Egyptian Museum, this is your chance to slow the pace and enjoy some well-earned downtime. Spend your days hopping between the swimming pools and the beach, building sandcastles on the shore or cooling off in the warm, clear waters of the Red Sea.
If your family is feeling adventurous, there are plenty of activities available locally. The Red Sea is famous for its vibrant coral reefs, making it a fantastic place to snorkel and discover tropical fish beneath the surface. Boat trips can also be arranged, and with a bit of luck you may even spot dolphins out at sea. For older children and teens, watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing are also available thanks to the area’s calm waters and reliable sea breeze.
Day 7 – Departure from Egypt
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Red Sea and begin your journey home. If you have time you can squeeze in one last swim, enjoy a final stroll along the beach or simply relax with a drink while taking in the sea views. When it’s time to leave, a private transfer will collect you from your hotel and take you to Hurghada Airport in time for your flight home.
