Day 1 – Arrival in Hurghada on the Red Sea and transfer to Safaga

Immediately after landing in Hurghada, our local partner will be waiting for you. They will guide you through immigration, assist you with your visa, and answer any questions you may have about your arrival. You will also receive an Egyptian SIM card, allowing you to make calls and stay online with ease throughout your trip.

Afterwards, you will take an approximately one-hour drive south along the coast to Safaga. The town is much quieter than Hurghada and delights visitors with its clear waters, colorful reefs, and pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. After checking in, you will have time to settle in, enjoy your hotel’s pool or beach, or take a short walk by the sea in the evening. This allows you to begin your journey at a leisurely pace and recharge for the special days ahead.

    Day 2 - R&R at Safaga Beach

There is no set itinerary today, so you are free to spend the day however you wish. Enjoy a few relaxing hours at the beach or by the pool, or stroll through the small town of Safaga for a glimpse of everyday Egyptian life away from the major tourist centers. If you feel like being active, you can optionally join a snorkeling or boat trip and explore the colorful offshore reefs and their many species of fish.

Your hotel is a holiday resort with all the amenities. Friendly staff, a swimming pool, lush gardens, and a private stretch of beach right by the sea create a relaxing atmosphere. With all-inclusive dining included in the price, you do not have to worry about a thing and can simply enjoy a carefree time by the sea.

Day 3 - Transfer to Luxor

    Travel time: approximately 4 hours

After breakfast, you bid farewell to the Red Sea. As this is a fixed itinerary designed specifically for the solar eclipse, you will be traveling in a large coach with other guests.

Set off on a roughly four-hour journey through the Arabian Desert, past rugged mountain ranges and vast sandy plains, until the vibrant green of the Nile Valley suddenly appears before you.

Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, and the temples of Luxor and Karnak

In Luxor, your guide, a trained Egyptologist, will be waiting for you, and your journey of discovery through ancient Thebes begins right on the West Bank. In the Valley of the Kings, you will visit the rock-cut tombs of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom, whose colorful wall paintings tell of the belief in an afterlife. Just a few kilometers away stands the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, one of the few women to ascend the pharaonic throne, its terraces nestled dramatically against the steep limestone cliffs.

In the afternoon, you cross over to the east bank and explore the vast Karnak Temple complex with its famous Hypostyle Hall. To round off the day, you visit Luxor Temple, which is especially atmospheric when illuminated in the early evening. Afterwards, your driver takes you back to your charming guesthouse on the west bank. Surrounded by sugarcane fields and small villages, with views of the Theban mountains, you can unwind in peaceful surroundings after this eventful day.

Day 4 - The Big Day - 2027 Solar Eclipse in Egypt

Luxor is one of the best places in the world to experience the solar eclipse. The city lies close to the centerline, so totality will last more than six minutes here. Another advantage is Upper Egypt’s stable desert climate: in August, the sky is almost always cloudless, making the chances of an unobstructed view particularly high.

After an early breakfast, you will travel to the observation site, where you will experience the eclipse in its entirety. Following the official welcome, a brief presentation will provide you with everything you need to know about the upcoming event, how to observe it properly, and how to use your protective glasses safely.

Late in the morning, the spectacle begins: the moon slowly moves in front of the sun, covering it bit by bit. After the final preparations, you sense the surroundings gradually changing. The light grows dim, the shadows become sharper, and the temperature drops noticeably.

Shortly after noon, totality finally begins. The sky darkens in the middle of the day, the first stars and planets become visible, and the Sun’s corona shines in all its splendor around the Moon’s black disk. For several minutes, you are immersed in this extraordinary stillness before the first ray of sunlight flashes out from behind the edge of the Moon, briefly creating the famous diamond ring effect. Daylight then returns, and over the course of the early afternoon, the Moon gradually reveals the Sun in full once again.

After the experience, you will be taken back to your hotel in Luxor. The photos of the corona are, of course, AI-generated—you are sure to have some beautiful photos of your own after the trip.

Day 5 - Departure from Luxor or onward journey

After breakfast, your journey to see the 2027 solar eclipse in Egypt comes to an end. You will be transferred to the airport or, if you are continuing your journey by train, to the railway station.

For example, you could also explore Aswan and Abu Simbel, travel to Cairo to see the famous pyramids, or simply spend a few more relaxing days swimming and snorkelling in the Red Sea.
