Salt Flats - when to go
Probably the most iconic image of Bolivia is the famous salt flats. As you might expect, the climate here is unlike anywhere else in the country. With a cold desert climate the months of August to October tend to be the best time of year to visit, though your chances of rainfall are minimal all year round.

West - when to go
Bolivia’s wild west, specifically Copacabana and the city of La Paz, has a subtropical highland climate La Paz, is famously the world’s highest administrative capital, so it’s no wonder the altitude dictates the weather here. The ideal time of year to visit is between May and October though February to May is also good. To dodge the rain give December and January a fairly wide berth.

Central Mountains - when to go
The cities of Potosi and Sucre fall firmly into the central mountainous area of Bolivia. In this region you’ll find mild temperatures throughout most of the year. There’s more rainfall between November and April, but fewer crowds too. As our trip name suggests, spring-time is the nicest time of year to visit Sucre.

Amazon Basin - when to go
It rains a lot; it’s the Amazon! This means it’s hot and humid all year round so you’ll want to pack layers. There’s slightly less rain from July through to September, but you can still expect to get wet. Sometimes these months can ever bring a short cold snap, so you’ll need to prepare for the unexpected.
