Overview

Santorini may just be the most photogenic place in Greece, with its mountainside dotted with white houses, donkeys roaming the streets, and even a volcanic crater thrown into the equation. You’ll also get to finish off each day enjoying the most beautiful sunset of the Cyclades. Some areas are quite popular, but this beautiful island is a favourite for a reason and there are still hidden treasures sprinkled throughout this paradise.

Arrival in Santorini

On arrival, our local representative will hold a sign with your name on it and take you to the port capital, Fira. Perched on the edge the volcano crater and its 270 meter high cliffs, this is the perfect base to explore from. After you’ve taken your things to your room, you’ll probably feel like a refreshing dip in the pool to cool off. In the evening, you can stroll through the attractively lit streets of Santorini and then have a bite to eat at one of the tucked away tavernas on a small side street.

Free Time on Santorini

Spend the next few days avoiding any crowds and explore the island by rental car. Oia is an authentic Greek town where you can spend hours aimlessly strolling through the narrow streets past beautiful houses. You can also tour around the less discovered spots of Santorini, passing forgotten villages in the interior, excavations in the north and lazing on a deserted black-sand beach in the south. If you fancy something more adventurous, take a day trip to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni and walk to the sulfur fuming crater. Alternatively, use this geothermic activity to relax in the hot springs on the island of Palea Kameni, only a short boat trip away.

Departure Santorini

Today you can use Santorini as the end point of your trip and will transfer to the airport, where you will fly back to Athens in an hour. If you just started island hopping through Greece travel on to the beaches of Naxos or step back in time on tranquil Amorgos.

Santorini – Wine-tasting tour

Today you will learn more about the wine from the region during a tasting on the quiet part of the island. The winery can be reached by bus or rental car and the farm is located in the middle of the vineyards. The owners are more than happy to give you a tour, where they proudly tell you about the wine-making process. During the tasting you’ll get all kinds of tasty local snacks, so you certainly won’t leave hungry. When you see the view of the vines, you really want nothing more than to linger on the terrace all afternoon.

Santorini – volcano and hot springs boat trip

Today you will board your boat in the morning from the old port of Fira and sail to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see dolphins swimming along the way! Make sure you have your sturdy walking shoes with you, because you’ll walk up to the crater rim when you reach the island. You may not see red-hot magma, but you will have impressive views of the crater and Santorini. After the active walk, it’ll be time to relax back on the boat and swim to the hot springs at the nearby island of Palea Kameni.
