When it comes to Greece, most only think of the idyllic islands but the mainland is equally full of beautiful landscapes and picturesque beaches. Throw in the ancient cities of Athens and Delphi and you will find this region to be bursting with spots to explore and history to uncover that all ages will enjoy.
For hiking, hot springs and sunsets, the Cyclades are hard to beat. Santorini often takes centre stage here but there are plenty of other islands to visit making it an ideal spot for some family island hopping. You’ll find long sandy beaches and volcanoes, you can take to the water on a stand up paddleboard or simply hang out at the beach.
The pretty Ionian Islands, characterised by their pastel-hued houses and sleepy fishing villages, are all about enjoying the water. From snorkelling to shipwrecks, you and the family will be able to create some special memories whilst soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine and diving into the warm, blue sea. Bliss!
As the largest island in Greece, Crete is famed for its beautiful beaches but look beyond these and you will find a diverse island begging to be explored. Visit ancient ruins, walk the Imbros Gorge and explore the Dikti Mountains. This island is a great spot for a road trip, where you can stop off wherever and whenever you like.
