Day 1 – Arrival in Monteverde
Today you’ll arrive into the hilltop town of Monteverde, surrounded by dense jungles and cloud-cloaked forests. Your home for the next two nights is a lodge nestled in lush gardens, within walking distance to the town. Here you’ll find a range of restaurants, shops and attractions to keep the whole family entertained. The frog pond is a great place to learn all about the many species in Costa Rica, including the lesser seen nocturnal varieties if you visit after dark!
Day 2 – Cloud forest walk
This morning you and your family will learn about the biodiversity in the cloud-forest as you cross hanging bridges high above the forest floor with an expert guide. Most of the animals here are nocturnal so the tour is geared towards the diverse plants but if you look really closely you might spot a sleeping sloth high up in the trees.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore and there are lots of family-friendly activities to keep you all busy. Take a stroll through the butterfly garden and marvel at the many colourful varieties native to Costa Rica, have a bite to eat at a restaurant built around a giant tree or cool down with a tasty ice-cream milkshake – this small town packs a lot in to keep the whole family entertained.
Day 3 – Departure from Monteverde
After a tasty breakfast you’ll pack up your bags and head on to your next destination, the road is a little bumpy but the views as you weave down towards the coast are worth it! If you fancy a bit more of an adrenaline rush during your time in Monteverde you can swing through the trees on various zip wires and platforms in the Cloud Forest. It’s combined with a ride on a sky gondola and the usual canopy walk so you will get lots of great views of the lush jungle below!
