Family on the beach

With an extended break and plenty of countries with great weather to visit, the summer holidays are a perfect time of year to experience the world with the clan. Have a look at our most suitable destinations to visit during the UK summer time:

Borneo

Summer is the most popular time to go to Borneo, its full of adventure and also well set up for family travel, being one of the safest countries in Asia to visit. Sarawak is in the peak of the dry season and you’ll experience minimal rain in Sabah. It’s also the best time to see baby turtles hatching and watch orangutans swing through the treetops.

Vietnam

In the summer holidays, you’ll find central Vietnam the best place to travel around as the north and the south can be a little rainy. Don’t worry though, there is still plenty going on with something for the whole clan. If you’re a family up for an adventure you can zip through the caves at Phong Nga, relax in Hoi An’s cultural centre and have some family beach time. Pure bliss.

Costa Rica

Getting to Costa Rica has never been easier – with direct flights to San Jose, it’s a lot less hassle to get the family there for the summer. June through to November is generally the rainy season, but July and August can often be drier. From spotting turtles in Tortuguero to hiking the Arenal volcano, Costa Rica is great for the summer holidays.

Canada

Ideal for the UK Summer holidays, our Canada self-drive holidays will give you flexibility and loads of adventure time. Spot wild bears from the safety of your boat, camp under the stars in a Tipi, kayak with majestic orcas and zip line past the peaks in Whistler. Summer is peak travel time to Canada so it’s best to book early to avoid any disappointment with availability.

India

India is known for being hot and humid in the summer months, however, the south is rather lovely and a lot less busy than the north, so perfect to ease the family into the Indian way of life. If you want your family to experience some of the highlights of the north, it’s still possible – it will make a refreshing change once you get further south where you can all try a traditional Kathakali dance in Cochin.

Indonesia

As a country that offers a wide range of experiences, Indonesia is a fantastic place to take the family in the summer as the weather is at its peak and you can include something to keep everyone happy. From cycling between rice terrace to visiting mystical temples and climbing lush volcanoes. Some of the main attractions can be quite busy, however, booking in advance can get you the best accommodation and flight prices too.

Malaysia

July and August are ideal months to fly to Malaysia, with some of the best beaches on the east coast being in the dry season. They have excellent snorkelling and underwater visibility which means a better chance to see turtles. Some areas can be busy as it is the peak time to travel, but our small scale, family friendly hotels will keep you away from the main crowds.

Peru

If you’re a family up for a bit of action-packed adventure, Peru is a great place to go to in the summer as it’s the driest season, meaning it’s the top time to trek the Inca Trail and visit Machu Picchu. Oh – and don’t miss the chance to spot sea lions and penguins at the amazing Islas Ballestas.

Sri Lanka

The best areas to travel to in the summer are the north, central and eastern areas so plenty of countries to cover, meaning it’s a great time of year to visit. You and your family can safari through the Yala National Park to spot elephants and maybe even a leopard. Or even stay in a local village to meet Sri Lankan children – what a story they could take back to school after the summer!
