Discover the exotic extravagance of Rajasthan, from floating palaces to golden desert forts. Beginning In Delhi, you’ll visit the majestic Taj Mahal before diving into royal Rajasthan, packed with shimmering saris, street food stalls and ornate palaces. Listen to pilgrims singing on the ghats of sacred Pushkar, explore the village of Barli by ox cart, and recharge your batteries with a stay in the quaint village of Narlai. You’ll also have time to explore the bazaars of the Blue City and stare out from your boat at Udaipur Lake palace. It’s an itinerary filled with atmosphere and a fairytale tint.

Days 1-2 – Arrival in Delhi

When you arrive in Delhi, you’ll be collected from the airport and transferred to your comfortable central hotel, near to both the ancient spice bazaars of Chandi Chowk and the modern glitz of Connaught Place. The following day, you’ll be taken to the station by private transfer where you’ll catch the day train to Agra (approx. 2 hours). On arrival into Agra, you’ll be collected and transferred to you hotel.

Days 2-4 – Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

A real wonder of the world, Taj Mahal will take your breath away. India’s Golden Triangle is the stuff of legend, with the ethereal Taj Mahal at its pinnacle. This trip will take you to Agra, where you’ll watch dawn break over the Taj Mahal. You’ll stay in a charming homestay within walking distance to Taj gates, making it easy to explore this fascinating monument on your own. Then your guide will take you around Agra’s other highlights, including baby Taj, Agra Fort and Mehtab Bagh, all offering spectacular views of Taj Mahal.

The next day you’ll travel to Jaipur.

Days 4-6 – Jaipur – city tour & Amber Fort visit

Today, you’ll be transferred to the Pink City of Jaipur, where you’ll stay in a boutique, family-run hotel. You’ll visit mystical monkey temples and ghost cities en route. The next day you’ll take a guided tour of this remarkable city, visiting the City Palace, the Observatory and the fairy-tale Palace of the Winds (Hawa Mahal). In the afternoon, you’ll visit Amber Fort before heading back to central Jaipur which is jumble of colours, camel carts, elephants, rickshaws, temples, forts and palaces.

Days 6-7 – Camels and castles – Pushkar

Today, you’ll leave Jaipur and head for Pushkar, a journey of about 3 hours. Soak up the romance of Rajasthan, from mystic lake palaces to desert forts as you embark on an adventure travelling across this legendary state. Begin by visiting Pushkar, built around a beautiful holy lake, where you’ll see pilgrims bathing and singing softly. Next, you’ll continue your adventure through Rajasthan.

Days 7-8 – Ox carts and a majestic fort

Far away from the bustling cities we’ve found a haven of peace, the small village of Barli, well known for its Fort. Fort Barli has now been converted into a renowned heritage hotel, and is a must-stop on your India trip. We’ll arrange for you to explore this historical village by ox cart. You’ll pass craftsmen at work, visit a temple and also stop by to visit a local family their home.

Days 8-9 – Camels and castles – Jodhpur

Today, you’ll set off for Jodhpur, also known as ‘The Blue City’ and home of the dramatic Mehrangarh Fort, one of the most impressive Mughal forts in India. On the way, you’ll stop to visit the striking Jain temple of Ranakpur, nestled in a beautiful green valley. The enormous temple complex has 1444 pillars with incredibly elaborate carvings. In Jodhpur, you can wander through the narrow alleyways of the city, where rope-makers colour their warps and spice-sellers display their aromatic wares.

Days 9-11 – Relaxing in rural Rajasthan

It’s then time to hit the road again and head to your next stop, Jodhpur, a 3.5-hour drive away. Rajasthan is well-known for its bustling cities, however, nestled between these popular stops we’ve found a small, oasis of calm. Narlai is a small village with authentic accommodation where you can take it easy and charge your batteries during your Rajasthan trip. The accommodation here offers a real flavour of India. After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road again and continue onto Udaipur 2.5-hours away.

Days 11-13 – Camels and castles – Udaipur

Today, you’ll travel to Udaipur, one of the most romantic cities in India, set around a mirror-like lake surrounded by green hills. You’ll spend two nights here, staying in a traditional haveli with a charming roof terrace looking out across Lake Pichola.  You’ll explore the magical city of Udaipur, visiting the City Palace and the Jagdish Temple, with beautiful views over the Lake Palace. Enjoy a boat ride across the lake, wander through the old town, try your hand at haggling in the bazaars and snap up some samosas from a street food stall.
