India’s national parks are home to an incredible variety of wildlife, from elusive tigers and one-horned rhinos to wild elephants and crocodiles. Take a jeep safari through the jungle, where you might spot deer grazing beside lakes, monkeys swinging through the trees or, if you’re lucky, the tell-tale stripes of a tiger. In Assam, keep an eye out for the rare Great Indian one-horned rhino, while in Periyar National Park, wild elephants can often be seen gathering around the lakes and waterways.

Arrive early at the Taj Mahal and watch the first light catch the white marble as the crowds are still relatively small. Float through the backwaters on a traditional rice barge, relax on the wide sands of authentic Marari Beach, wander between colourful houses and watch the Chinese fishing nets of Kochi in action.
