Pulau Lang Tengah is the perfect place to take some time out. A quiet, tucked-away tropical island off Malaysia’s north-east coast, it’s somewhere to let your worries melt away. There are only three resorts scattered across the entire island, making it a paradise without masses of other people. This is the spot to surrender to barefoot bliss. Simply lie back on soft white sand and let the sunshine do the rest.

Merang - Lang Tengah

The crossing from Merang to Pulau Lang Tengah takes around 30 minutes, and you’ll be astonished by the island as you approach. You’ll be greeted by white sands, waving palms and pastel-coloured boulders tumbling onto wild beaches. The resort is tasteful and welcoming, with a handful of cosy bungalows and the tropical beach sits just footsteps beyond your front door, making it pure, barefoot bliss.

Lang Tengah - Free Time

The coral reef that rings the island is a protected nature reserve with sensational snorkelling, so simply grab a mask and wade straight into the sparkling sea. There’s a good chance that you’ll spot clownfish, parrotfish and even turtles as you go. Alternatively, spend an afternoon getting lost in the jungle as you wander along the overgrown trails of the dense, green interior.

Departure from Lang Tengah

After your final night on the island we’ll arrange your ferry transport back to Merang. It’ll be sad to say goodbye to this tropical paradise. Like the rest of the east coast, monsoons are heavy here and the resorts shut down altogether during the rains. The best time to visit is between March and mid October, when the island will be blessed with clear blue skies.
