This Java trip will take you through some of the island's most impressive scenery. You'll head to the famous Dieng Plateau with its towering mountain ridges and active volcanic craters. Here you'll also find ancient Hindu temples; more than 400 in fact, though we don't expect you to see them all! You'll stay in a colonial-style hotel with a swimming pool in the nearby town of Wonosobo.

Day 1 – Arrival in Wonosobo
Wonosobo sits at 900m above sea level, nestled amongst the hills of the central mountain range. It’s a friendly rural village with a lively market, and the temperature is cool thanks to the higher altitude. You can spend the rest of the day in Wonosobo, wandering through its local market or take a dip in the hotel pool.
Day 2 – Dieng Plateau & departure
You’ll have an early start this morning to catch the best views from the Dieng Plateau. The steep mountain ridges and terraces of vegetable fields make for some fantastic vistas from this enormous volcanically active plateau. Scattered amongst the rice paddies are some of the oldest Hindu temples on Java. Finally, you’ll descend past bubbling, steaming craters and begin the journey to Yogyakarta.
