
Sarawak, Borneo with the Family: Wildlife, Jungle & Beach
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive in Kuching
Kuching is the perfect place to spend the first few nights of your Sarawak family adventure. This compact, welcoming city is a mix of old and new, a melting pot of cultures and cuisines. It’s also known as ‘Cat City’, and your kids will love spotting the cat statues dotted around the city. There’s even a museum dedicated to them!
Day 2 – Rainforest kayaking & visit Semenggoh
This morning you’ll be transferred to Bengoh which is the start point of your guided kayak adventure. Set off along a calm rainforest river, paddling past limestone cliffs and lush greenery. Along the way, you can cool off with a swim in the clear water and stop at a traditional Bidayuh village to meet the locals.
After your paddle and lunch, you’ll be taken to Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre, where rescued and orphaned orangutans are taught the skills they need to survive in the wild. Visiting during feeding time gives you the best chance of spotting these incredible creatures up close, while also learning more about the centre’s important conservation work. You’ll return to your hotel late afternoon.
The kayak experience is suitable for children aged 7 years+. Semenggoh is suitable for children of all ages


Day 3 – Discover Bako National Park
Only accessible by boat, Bako National Park is a land time forgot. Teaming with wildlife, including numerous species of monkey, yet within easy reach of Kuching, this trip is a great jungle experience for all the family. Your experienced guide will lead you through the winding boardwalks and rainforest trails, helping the kids to spot the mischievous Macaques, Silver Leaf Monkeys and of course the most famous resident, the funny-faced Proboscis Monkey. After lunch, you’ll sail back through the mangrove forests to the mainland where you’ll be transferred back to Kuching.

Day 4 – Sleep in a treehouse
It’s time to depart the city. If you’re looking for a slower paced start to your trip we can easily add another night to your stay in Kuching. Just ask your Travel Specialist.
This morning, you’ll be transferred to your home for the next couple of nights, a real-life tree-house! You’ll be staying in a jungle resort located in the heart of the rainforest, and right next to the beach. This eco-resort is a great place to unwind with the family, you can rent paddle-boards, kayaks and head out on nature-watching tours.


Day 5 – Wildlife spotting boat trip
Your morning is free to relax and explore. In the afternoon we’ve arranged a boat trip on the mangrove-lined Santubong River. Keep your eyes peeled for all the wildlife hiding along these shores. There’s Proboscis monkeys, Irrawaddy dolphins, fireflies and you might look down into the water and spot some crocodile eyes looking right back at you. As dusk settles you’ll be able to see the fireflies twinkling in the evening sky, and afterwards, you’ll head back to your treehouse for the night.
The wildlife cruise is suitable for children aged 7 years+
Days 6 – 8 – Beach time
Today our driver will be back to transfer you to the sands of Damai beach, a short hop away. Time to relax, swim in the ocean, and reflect on your amazing experiences. On the second day of your stay we’ll arrange a guided kayaking adventure. You’ll paddle through the beautiful rainforest surroundings and stop off at local villages where you’ll meet the Bidayuh tribe – a great way to help open the kids’ eyes to one of the many different cultures in our world.


Day 9 – Depart Kuching
Today you’ll be transferred from the beach to Kuching airport (approx 45 minutes drive) in time for your flight home. If three nights on the beach is not enough, let your Travel Specialist know and we can extend your stay.
