It’s low season in Tanzania in March, with the rains starting to become heavier as the month progresses and humidity rising, especially in the south. The changing weather patterns see the migrating herds start to leave the southeastern Serengeti on their way to Grumeti and the beginning of their journey towards Kenya.

If you visit northern Tanzania towards the start of the month, you’ll get to experience the scenery and wildlife without the crowds, as well as the bird life of green season. The thick vegetation and more abundant water sources do make it harder to see the wildlife, and once the rains begin in earnest, it’s not a great time to explore the country.
