Where will you stay in Nepal?
During your trip with us you’ll stay in accommodation with bags of local character and experience a variety of styles and standards. You might spend the night in a safari lodge, a jungle tower, or with a Nepalese family. During our treks, the teahouse or homestay accommodation is basic, but the experience and the views are utterly amazing.
How it works
We use a hand-picked selection of smaller hotels wherever we can, avoiding international chains, to give you a local and authentic experience when it comes to where you stay. As hotels in Nepal don’t always fit in with European star ratings, we’ve created our own categories so you know what you can expect from your trip.
Here’s what to expect from your Rickshaw accommodation:
Standard accommodation – Category 3
Most of our Nepal accommodation falls into our standard category: small-scale with authentic Nepalese charm and a welcoming atmosphere. In Kathmandu, for example, you’ll sleep in a traditional hotel with a peaceful courtyard, just away from the bustle of the city centre. In the mountains, you’ll stay in traditional mountain lodges, known locally as tea houses, where you can enjoy a more rustic and authentic experience.
In-Style accommodation - Category 4
The hotels in this category offer just that little bit more atmosphere, creature comforts or additional facilities, such as a swimming pool, and make your trip extra special. Think, for example, of our lodge on the edge of Chitwan National Park. Here you will sleep in a spacious, comfortable lodge surrounded by greenery, with a view of nature and a swimming pool to cool off after a day on safari.
Special stays
In some destinations, we’ve found places that add an extra touch of something special. This doesn’t always mean more luxury, but it does mean a unique ambiance and vibe. Simple accommodation & community homestays
Some destinations in Nepal are just so special that the accommodation isn’t as important as the location. You might stay in a cosy guesthouse in a medieval town, a jungle tented lodge or a traditional mountain tea house. Facilities can be more basic than you’re used to in the UK, but the character and locations make up for it.
For a more personal experience, you can stay in a Community Homestay, sleeping with a local family, enjoying homemade food and getting a glimpse of everyday life. These stays also provide a direct source of income for local communities.
