Day 1 – Welcome to Riviera life!
After all that travelling it’s time for some downtime, and there is no better place for a few lazy days than the stunning coastline of the Albanian Riviera. Golden beaches and glimmering turquoise sea will be your companions for the next few days. You’ll stay in a small family-run hotel in one of the small coastal towns, walking distance to the beach, but with your car you can explore the coastline further.
The typical beachside towns have plenty of local eateries, beach bars and local shops. Go for a troll or find a good spot to watch sunset with a cold drink in your hand.
Day 2 – Boat trip to the Canyon of Gjipe
There is no better way to discover the Dhermi area than from the water. Today you’ll hop on a boat and sail along the coast to one of the Riviera’s natural wonders – Gjipe Canyon. You’ll get off the boat straight on a white sandy beach hidden between two cliffs, where you hike will begin. You’ll explore the gorge and search for hidden caves and perfect viewpoints before returning back to the stunning beach for some downtime. Lay on the warm sand, go for a swim and don’t forget to refuel – you can get some snacks on the beach or take a little picnic lunch with you. After some time you’ll continue your adventures to a mysterious Pirate’s cave.
Days 3-4 – Free time and departure
The rest of your time in the Riviera is absolutely free to do as you please. Enjoy the sunshine! Or, if you’d like to fill your days up with activities, there’s plenty to do in the area, from exploring the archaeological site of Butrint to visiting the magical Blue Eye near Saranda. Today your local guide will show you around one of the most important sites in Albania – Butrint. Built right by the water back in the 4th century by the Trojans, this ancient city (now a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is famed for its well-preserved acropolis. During a few hours spent wandering around Butrint you’ll learn about its history and the Greek, Roman and Byzantine influences of the past times.
