Sri lanka two travellers green landscape

From waterfalls in emerald valleys to lofty mountain tops, Sri Lanka is home to some fantastic nature walks and treks. Whether you want to join the night-time pilgrimage to mighty Adam’s Peak or discover flora and fauna in the rainforest, we know just where to go if you fancy a spot of trekking or hiking in Sri Lanka. Have a look at our top pick of experiences below…

Journey through emerald valleys

Our bite-sized trip will take you on a journey to Explore the Emerald Valleys of Ella where you’ll soak up the scenery of one of the most scenic spots in Sri Lanka: Ella. Journey by train through the beautiful countryside and set off on your own adventure on a hike past rolling tea plantations and train bridges before climbing the steps to the summit of Little Adam’s Peak. And if you’re feeling particularly energetic, venture through winding jungle trails to Ella Rock.

Take a hike among Knuckles Mountains

The Knuckles Mountain Range (which resembles the knuckles of a clenched fist… hence the name!) is nestled in the heart of the central hill country. During this trip, you’ll stay in an eco-lodge, perched on a hillside and surrounded by rolling tea plantations. From here, you can visit the local community and enjoy a tasty cup of tea, and hike through the surrounding countryside against a backdrop of the mighty mountains.

Climb above the clouds

If you fancy a real active challenge on your Sri Lanka holiday then Adam’s Peak is an absolute must. During our Adam’s Peak trip you’ll set off under the night sky to join the pilgrims on a steep journey to the top of the mountain. Once you’ve reached the summit, you’ll be rewarded with the most spectacular sunrise and panoramic views of the sweeping valleys.

Trek through the tea hills

During our Tea Hills and Trails trip, you’ll journey into the cool mountain climbs of Nuwara Eliya, watch tea pickers in the fields and take a three hour walk along the plateau of Horton Plains towards the rolling mist at World’s End. This spectacular gorge will really give you a feeling that the country has come to an end.

Stroll through rainforest canopies

As the name suggests, our Strolling Through the Rainforest trip isn’t so much of a trek as it is, well.. a stroll! So if you fancy a good dose of nature during your holiday, but aren’t keen on doing a tough trek, then this trip is ideal. Go deep into the rainforest, follow winding trails under jungle canopies and spot exotic bird, insect and plant life. On this nature walk you’ll join your guide as you discover the tropical inhabitants of one of Sri Lanka’s last remaining rainforests.
