Day 1 – Welcome to Jalcomulco

Embark on the 5-hour journey from Mexico City or Puebla to reach Jalcomulco. Make a pit stop in Coatepec, a “Pueblo Magico,” where you can explore the history and sacred heritage in the Museo del Café and indulge your taste buds with a local coffee. The eco-cabins await you after the last stretch on a dirt road. Your accommodation is simple yet comfortable, and you can enjoy a stunning view of the green valley from the terrace. Since the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, we recommend dining at one of the local restaurants in the town.

Day 2 – Rafting on Rio Pescados

Awake to the sounds of nature, and after a hearty breakfast, take in the river you’re about to conquer. The guide will brief you and suggest the best route depending on the water level. Navigate between calm paddling and thrilling rapids, and expect to get a little wet – it’s all part of the fun! Return to your cabin in the afternoon, where you can relax with a book and, for an extra treat, experience the Temazcal, a traditional sauna available on-site. Let the aromatic vapors soothe your muscles after an intense morning of paddling.

Day 3 – Farewell to Jalcomulco

Time to say goodbye to this special natural haven, possibly with a bit of muscle soreness in your shoulders. From here you can head to colonial Oaxaca and the pre-Columbian excavations of Monte Alban.
