Flavours of Puebla

Bite-sized trip
  • Itinerary:
    Puebla
  • Duration:
    3 days / 2 nights (flexible)
  • Price:
from £198 per person (excluding flights)
Puebla is widely regarded as Mexico’s capital of food, with some of the best restaurants in the country and specialities which you won’t find anywhere else. It’s also a charming city with some wonderful colonial architecture and a thriving modern culture too. You’ll spend two nights in a 17th-century colonial hotel, and will head out with a local guide to discover the secrets of Mexican cuisine, nobody leaves Puebla hungry.

Day 1 – Arrival in Puebla

When you arrive you’ll make your way to your hotel near the central square to settle in – a perfect base to explore the highlights of the city. You’ll find restaurants and food stalls all around, and the historic centre alone is home to 70 old churches and a beautiful cathedral. Take a stroll around, find a spot for some tacos and a cold drink, and watch life unfold.

Day 2 – Explore (and taste) the city

After a relaxing morning, you’ll meet up with a local ‘Poblano’ guide for a taste tour of the city. Puebla is famous for its ‘mole’, a sauce based on chocolate that is often eaten with chicken and rice, and you’ll also sample plenty of other Mexican delicacies from tacos to nachos, and go behind the scenes of small restaurants and bakeries. You can also make use of some real local knowledge to find out all the best places to eat and drink this evening…

Day 3 – Continue your journey through Mexico

With your belly still full, this morning it’s time to say goodbye to Puebla and travel to your next Mexican destination.
