Day 1 – Arrival in Nafplion

Arrive in the enchanting city of Nafplion. Once the residence of Greece’s first king in the mid-nineteenth century, Nafplion has since transformed into a beloved seaside retreat for Athenians seeking respite from the bustling city. As you wander through its captivating streets, you’ll discover vibrant hues of Italian-style buildings that lend an artistic charm to the cityscape, as well as Turkish mosques and fountains. Stroll through the bustling streets, brimming with enticing shops and inviting tavernas, as you make your way towards the picturesque harbour. Here, you’ll find the Twin Fortresses, steadfast guardians of the region, standing tall along the rugged coastline. Settle into your traditional guesthouse, nestled right in the heart of the old city.

Day 2 – Ouzo tasting

Today you’ll explore the northeast of the Peloponnese by car. Get up early to get to the Lion Gate of Mycenae and the Amphitheater of Epidaurus before the crowds arrive. As you return to the charming city of Nafplion, you can visit one of the oldest ouzo factories in the country, where the art of distilling this quintessential Greek anise drink has been passed down through five generations of the same family. The owner’s passion and expertise will guide you through the nuances and traditions of this beloved drink, weaving tales of generations past and painting a vivid picture of its cultural significance. And what better way to truly savour the experience than with a tasting, where you can indulge in the distinctive flavours of ouzo, accompanied by a delightful selection of Greek delicacies. Raise your glass and toast to the moment with a heartfelt “Yamas” (cheers)!

Day 3 – Departure from Nafplion

This morning you’ll have plenty of time for a good breakfast and perhaps a last walk through the atmospheric streets, before you drive to the port of Piraeus to continue your journey. There are many options for you to choose from! For example, you could decide to get the ferry to Naxos or choose to stay on the closer island of Poros.
