Elephants & Tea Fields in Sri Lanka | Debra & Andrew

Blog

Debra and Andrew have recently returned from their Rickshaw trip to Sri Lanka where they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. During their travels, they learnt how to cook authentic Sri Lankan cuisine on a traditional homestay in Kandy, spending three days living the real Sri Lankan life.

Next, they climbed the steep rock of Sigiriya as well as taking a jeep safari to see the local population of elephants. After, they explored tea hills and trails in Nuwara Eliya where they met the locals and learnt about the process of picking tea. Travelling by train next Debra and Andrew journeyed through the emerald valleys of Ella, before making their next stop at Yala National Park to spot elephants and sleep in a safari-style tent. They ended their Sri Lanka holiday itinerary on the turquoise shores of Unawatuna.

“The best holiday we have ever had…”

“We booked with Rickshaw Travel because we wanted something different but were wary of doing it independently. It was definitely the best holiday we have ever had…Service from the local partners was excellent – Harold our driver was really helpful, knowledgable & friendly. The real highlight for us was the variety of experiences; there was always something new to see and learn about.”

Thanks, Debra and Andrew for sharing your holidays experiences and pics with us. Click through the slideshow above to see more of their holiday snaps.
