Overview
Head to Alentejo and learn why its olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees often mean it is compared to Tuscany. On this trip you’ll head into the cornfields for a rustic picnic of cheese and olives. Your base will be an old family-run farmhouse with a swimming pool, where you’ll be sleeping for the next two nights. The owners are very welcoming and happy to tell you all about how they restored this magnificent property to its former glory.

Arrival Évora
Arrive at your farmhouse that’s just a 15-minute drive from the medieval village of Évora, a town known for its beautiful church towers, antique temple columns, cobbled streets and baroque churches. There’s plenty of delicious local food on the central square and you can purchase local ingredients from the friendly shop owners to cook in your apartment that has a kitchenette, eating on your private terrace overlooking the landscape.

Picnic in the cornfields
Today you’ll have a day of leisure and there are a lot of options open to you from visiting a working cork factory or rent bicycles at your accommodation and cycle through the vineyards. We’ll arrange for you to head into the cornfield for a rustic picnic of locally-sourced cheese and olives. Whatever you else decide to do, make sure you grab some treats from the bakeries as well and if you prefer to something more active then we can also arrange a mountain biking trip for you, which will see you weaving your way across a local cork estate.
