Car rental in Japan

Transport

Why not try a self drive trip in Japan!

When people think of a trip to Japan, they usually imagine travelling by train rather than exploring the country by hire car. While Japan is indeed very easy to get around by train and other public transport, there are certain regions where hiring a car for a few days makes sense, offering greater flexibility and access to places that are otherwise difficult to reach. This is particularly recommended on our Kyushu round trip for the Aso region, for visiting the Iya Valley on Shikoku, and for exploring the Japanese Alps on Honshu in a more individual way.

A safe and flexible way to explore

Safety and security on the road are very important to us, which is why our Japan car rental prices include insurance. Road signage is in Japanese and sometimes English but with a GPS, driving in Japan is straightforward, allowing you to fully enjoy your journey. An English-language GPS is already included in the rental. The price shown covers standard insurance, unlimited mileage, and local taxes. We have also created Japan tours where you can explore the country of sushi, sake, and samurai in a well-planned and varied way with your own hire car. If you prefer to plan your route yourself, you’ll find helpful tips for mapping out your own journey on our building blocks page.
