Day 1 – Arrival in Maumere
On arrival, you’ll be met by a private driver who will take you to your hotel just a short drive away. The town of Maumere isn’t all that exciting for tourists, but the coastline to the east is beautiful and serene with long stretches of volcanic beach. After checking into your hotel, you can get busy relaxing – the hotel makes good food or you can explore the other options dotted along the beach.
Days 2-3 – Snorkelling trip & departure
After breakfast, you’ll head out with a small group on a local boat and sail away from the coast towards some of the prime snorkelling spots in the area. The reef around here is almost entirely undisturbed, the water is very clear and filled with colourful sealife. You’ll spend the next few hours exploring the tiny islands and lunch will be provided on the boat.
In the afternoon you’ll return to the hotel to spend the rest of the day as you please. This may well be the starting point for your trip across Flores, so make the most of the opportunity to sit back and rest your legs in readiness for the adventure ahead. After breakfast at the hotel you’ll continue to the next stop on your journey.
