I was actually travelling in Brazil when I first set foot on Argentinian soil at Iguazu Falls. I was blown away by the seemingly unending cascades and I vowed to return. In 2006 I spent 6 weeks backpacking around Argentina and Chile, long enough to develop an unfaltering taste for red wine! Apart from Buenos Aires, my Argentina highlights are experiencing the unexpected in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. I loved seeing the penguins hatch at Punta Tombo and visiting the Welsh speaking colonies in Puerto Madryn.
Having already travelled through the west coast of South America, the continent is calling my name once again and now I can’t wait to go back. This time, Argentina is at the top of my list! Having the chance to sail through glaciers, ride horses with the gauchos, eat one of the best steaks imaginable, all washed down with world class wine will be a holiday to remember. But most of all, I’m looking forward to seeing the penguins in Punta Tombo, honestly who doesn’t love penguins!
