Day 1 – Arrival in Antigua

You’ll arrive in Antigua ready to check into your hotel in the centre of the city. It’s a simple place in an old colonial building, with a nice terrace and easy access to lots of shops, restaurants and bars, and views of the surrounding countryside. Settle in and then set out to find somewhere to try out the local cuisine as night draws in.

Day 2 – Explore the city

This is a city perfect for exploring under your own steam, with shady plazas, pretty churches and peaceful parks dotted throughout the old centre. The local markets are a hive of activity, and we’d recommend taking a detour to take in the atmosphere. Further afield there are plenty of little villages you could explore, and if the weather is good you could even book a hike up to one of the three volcanos which loom over the city.

If you have the time then it’s definitely worth considering an extra night or two here, otherwise it’s time to head on to your next destination.
