Day 1 – Arrival in Kalibaru
Today, you’ll travel along scenic roads that twist through the volcanic landscape to reach Probolinggo station, where you’ll board the train to Kalibaru. In the late afternoon you’ll arrive in the small mountain village, where you’ll be collected and taken to your comfortable hotel with a pool. The rooms are set among lush gardens, once home to a coconut palm grove, but now scattered with tropical plants and trees. As many travellers skip Kalibaru, its a peaceful stop where you can experience everyday Javanese life. You’ll see rice farmers working the fields and meet friendly locals who might invite you into their home for a cup of coffee.
Day 2 – Plantation walk
Today, you’ll take a guided walk through the plantations around Kalibaru and get a glimpse of daily life in these gorgeous highlands. Your English-speaking guide will teach you how cocoa, rubber and cloves (for cigarettes) are grown. You’ll visit a working coffee plantation and a small village rubber factory.

Day 3 – Departure from Kalibaru
After breakfast this morning, you’ll continue on your journey through Indonesia. Staying on Java, visit the largest Buddhist temple complex in the world in Yogyakarta, watch sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in Sukamade, or marvel at the mighty Bromo. Head to Bali for some beach time, exploring rice terraces, discovering water temples in Tirtagangga, or wander through the hills and discover cascading waterfalls in Munduk. Wherever you choose to go next, Indonesia is packed with incredible experiences, with something special waiting around every corner.
