Brazil travel specialist Ceri laying in a hammock

The tours I led in Central America also passed through Panama, namely the laid back Bocas del Torro islands so I got to snorkel regularly after which it was nice to escape the heat and go up into the coffee highlands for lovely hikes around Boquete. Before this I backpacked through myself and visited the fascinating San Blas Islands and enjoyed seeing the famous Miraflores locks at the Panama Canal and learning the interesting history. Needless to say I also bought myself a hat…..

On my travels through Central America I was completely surprised by Panama and really fell in love with it all! I went island hopping in Bocas del Toro, roasted my very own coffee in Boquete and couldn’t get enough of the vibrant old quarter in Panama City. If you’re keen on snorkelling I would highly recommend travelling to San Blas or the islands of Bocas to take in the wonders of the ocean and coral reefs. This was a big highlight for me on my own travels and can’t wait to go back again.
