Kuching, known as 'Cat City', is the perfect place to spend a day or two when starting your Sarawak adventure. The city offers a wonderful mix of old and new as well as being a melting pot of cultures and cuisines. Take a stroll through the colonial streets and marvel at the Chinese Temples and Mosques at every turn, before heading to spot orangutans swinging through the trees. During your time here we'll organise your transfer from both the airport and accommodation, into the heart of the city so you can explore at your own pace.

Day 2 – Kuching – cycling and river cruise

This morning you’ll head out on a cycling tour of Kuching. You’ll cycle past temples and monuments, and even get to stop in the heritage area, where you’ll fill your stomach with some tasty authentic street food. Later, you’ll take a relaxing cruise along the Sarawak River on a traditional Sampan boat. Sailing along, your guide will show you rural Malay villages and wooden bridges lining the banks of the river. Along the way, you can explore the exciting and exotic open-air market of Kubah Ria; full of colours, eateries and plenty of food. After 4 hours you’ll return to your hotel and the rest of your day is free for you to explore.

Day 3 – Departure from Kuching

Today it’s time to say goodbye to Kuching. If you aren’t visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sabah, then there’s another chance to get up close to these endearing primates at the Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary. It’s located an hour away from the city centre and is open daily. If you would like us to include a half-day trip to the sanctuary, please let your Travel Specialists know and we’ll extend your time in Kuching.
