Arrival in Kuching
After you land in Kuching you’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel, which is centrally located and within walking distance from all local attractions and the boulevard. Kuching has a very lively waterfront, perfect for long leisurely strolls or people watching. Traditional taxi boats, with colourful adverts on them, will take you across Sarawak River where you’ll have an even better view of the city.
Kuching – Cycling and River cruise
This morning you’ll head out on a cycling tour of Kuching. You’ll cycle past temples and monuments, and stop in the heritage area for some popular authentic Sarawak street food. Later, you’ll take a relaxing cruise along the Sarawak River on a traditional Sampan boat. Sailing along, your guide will show you rural Malay villages and wooden bridges lining the banks of the river. Along the way, you can explore the exciting and exotic open air market of Kubah Ria. After 4 hours you’ll return to your hotel and the rest of your day is free.
Departure from Kuching
Today it’s time to say goodbye to Kuching. If you aren’t visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sabah then there’s another chance to get up close and personal with these endearing primates at the Semenggoh orangutan Sanctuary. It’s located an hour away from the city centre and is open daily. If you would like us to include a half-day trip to the sanctuary, please select it below and your Travel Specialists know and we will extend your time in Kuching.
Optional day trip
Semenggoh Orangutan Centre
During your time in Kuching, you can visit Semenggoh, a temporary home for various endangered wildlife of Sarawak, especially orang-utans that have either been orphaned or rescued from captivity. Here, they’re trained in all the survival skills for them to venture out into the wild and fend for themselves. This tour is arranged at your convenience either in the morning or afternoon, to correspond with the feeding time of the orang-utans.

Optional day trip
River Sunset Cruise
If you select this option then late afternoon you’ll head to the jetty to board the sunset cruise along Kuching’s famous city river. This is a wonderful way to view Kuching from a different angle and will transport you back to a time when how goods were shipped across the city, before the invention of modern roads. Sit back and relax on the deck, get yourself a drink, and watch the sun go down over the horizon… Bliss!
