Day 1 – Arrival in Hundar

This morning you’ll set off from Leh to the Nubra Valley. Along the way you’ll cross one of the highest mountain passes in the world (5,602m) – the view from this high is spectacular, you have to see it for yourself! On your descent, you’ll see the lush green valley with rivers flowing through the heart of it. The Silk Road used to run through here making it an important trade centre. Next, you’ll stop at Chamba Gompa, the most important monastery of this region, before reaching your hotel in Hundar.

Start your morning by taking in the spectacular views of the Nubra Valley whilst having breakfast. Next you’ll continue to Samstanling Gompa, a complex with seven temples to explore. You’ll then cross through Yarab Tso (hidden lake) and if the weather’s good you’ll see the surrounding peaks and clouds reflected onto the water. Before stopping for the night you’ll make a last stop at Panamik, famous for its hot springs. Then it’s time to take it easy and get a good night’s rest at your hotel in Kyagar.
