Your day-by-day itinerary
Anurak Lodge - Khao Sok National Park
After arriving at the railway station in Surat Thani, you’ll be collected by a guide and driver along with a small group of other travellers. You’ll travel to our Anurak Community Lodge in Khao Sok National Park, a stunning location hidden amongst the limestone cliffs. The lodge has comfortable bungalows set in lush gardens and overlooks the stunning National Park.
This afternoon you will head to the river where your canoe and guide will be waiting for you. As you paddle through the twists and turns of the calm river you can enjoy the view of the idyllic limestone cliffs towering above. Your local guide can tell you all about the flora and fauna in this dense undergrowth before you head back to the lodge for a tasty dinner, which is included. Afterwards sit back and soak up the serenity of the lush jungle, listening to the monkeys playing in the trees above.
The following day you’ll wake up to the sounds of the jungle and head out on a hike to spot the local wildlife. You’ll hear the dense rainforest rustle with the sounds of monkeys, birds and insects. After walking for around 90 minutes you will arrive at a cave or a series of small waterfalls (which one depends on the season). You’ll probably be pretty tired when you get back to your jungle bungalow, so you can spend the afternoon on your veranda, listening to the murmurs of the jungle at night.
Travel to Floating Raft Houses
After an early breakfast this morning, you’ll be collected along with a small group of other travellers and head to Lake Racha Praba. You’ll take a boat over the still waters, surrounded by spectacular rock formations jutting vertically from the lake. You’ll stay in a basic but beautifully located floating bungalow on the water. Once you’ve settled in and enjoyed a delicious Thai lunch, you’ll join your group and guide for a walk through the dense jungle, past bamboo groves and beneath giant trees.
Departure
Today is your last day in the jungle and you’ll pack up your things ready to journey to your next destination. Many travellers now head south to the beaches to experience white sands and turquoise seas. It’s worth bearing in mind that the daily programme of this trip may vary slightly depending on the weather conditions at the time of travel. Weather in the jungle can be hard to predict!
Meaningful Travel
The Anurak Community Lodge in Khao Sok National Park was built by our partner in Thailand alongside the local community. The lodge employs people from the area to run the accommodation and has trained guides to run tours throughout the park, giving you an insight into this beautiful area from a local’s perspective. The lodge was built as a sustainable property; recycling, reusing and reducing their impact on the environment.
