Day 1 – Arrival in Thattekad
Today you’ll arrive at Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, a hidden gem, home to hundreds of different birds. You’ll be staying in a cottage located on the banks of the Periyar river. Take it easy for the rest of the day and enjoy the surrounding landscapes and views of the river and Thattekad forest. If you’re feeling active, pop on your walking shoes and explore the area by foot.
Day 2 – Birdwatching & kayaking
Today you’ll head out on a bird watching tour with an experienced guide. We’ll also arrange a kayaking trip where you’ll get the chance to kayak to riverside villages to get a first-hand glimpse of traditional Keralan life. You’ll also trek along a nature trail, accompanied by a guide. The nature walk is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the forest. Keep a lookout for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
Day 3 – Departure from Thattekad
After breakfast, you’ll have time to take a short stroll and try and spot some more wildlife. Then it’s time to hop back into the car and onwards to your next destination. After all, there’s so much more of Kerala and South India to explore!
