Arrival in Kuching
After you land in Kuching you’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel, which is located in the heart of Kuching; just walking distance from all local attractions and the boulevard. Kuching has a very lively waterfront, perfect for a long leisurely stroll. You’ll spot the traditional taxi boats, which will take you across Sarawak River and give you an even better view of the city.
Kuching – Cycling and River cruise
This morning you’ll head out on a cycling tour of Kuching. You’ll cycle past temples and monuments, and even get to stop in the heritage area, where you’ll fill your stomach with some tasty authentic street food. Later, you’ll take a relaxing cruise along the Sarawak River on a traditional Sampan boat. Sailing along, your guide will show you rural Malay villages and wooden bridges lining the banks of the river. Along the way, you can explore the exciting and exotic open-air market of Kubah Ria; full of colours, eateries and plenty of food. After 4 hours you’ll return to your hotel and the rest of your day is free for you to explore.
Departure from Kuching
Today it’s time to say goodbye to Kuching. If you aren’t visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sabah, then there’s another chance to get up close to these endearing primates at the Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary. It’s located an hour away from the city centre and is open daily. If you would like us to include a half-day trip to the sanctuary, please let your Travel Specialists know and we’ll extend your time in Kuching.
Semenggoh Orangutan Centre
During your time in Kuching, you have the option to visit Semenggoh, a temporary home for various endangered wildlife in Sarawak, especially orang-utans that have either been orphaned or rescued from captivity. Here, they’re trained in all the survival skills, to venture out into the wild and fend for themselves. This tour can be arranged either in the morning or afternoon, to make sure it fits with your day and you get to see feeding time with the the orang-utans.

River Sunset Cruise
If you fancy a river sunset cruise, then in the late afternoon you’ll head to the jetty and board your boat taking you along Kuching’s famous city river. This is a great way to view Kuching from a different angle and will transport you back to a time when goods were shipped across the city, before the invention of modern roads. Sit back and relax on the deck, get yourself a drink, and watch the sun go down over the horizon… Bliss!
