Arrival in Periyar

This morning, you’ll leave Cochin and head for Thekkady which will be your base whilst you explore the Periyar National Park. You will be staying in a cosy guesthouse and the rest of today is free to spend as you wish. You can relax by the pool with a good book and take it easy.

If you would like to do something more active, you can arrange a boat safari independently and glide along the gentle rivers in search of wildlife.

Today you will head on a walking tour in Periyar with a local guide, and you’ll spot birds, butterflies and other wildlife as you walk. Periyar is home to several types of deer, otters, bison, monkeys and even wild bears. However, the most famous residents of Periyar are the wild elephants grazing in the tall grass along the lake. In the afternoon you will be shown around a spice garden where you can see different spices, and later you will be given a short cooking demo before heading back to your guesthouse.
