During this trip you'll travel from Manaus into the heart of the Amazon where you'll sleep at a lodge surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. During your stay you'll trek through the jungle, fish for piranhas and meet the locals along the waterways. Arrival in Manaus
Manaus is a large trade city and transit port for products originating from the Amazon. On arrival your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your Manaus hotel where you will spend the night. The famous Opera house is within walking distance and is worth a look if you have a chance – its ornate roof is pretty impressive.
Manaus - The Amazon
You’ll be collected from your hotel and will travel to the lodge by road and boat, along with any other guests checking in today. During the journey you’ll pass the ‘meeting of the waters’, where the blue-black waters of the Rio Negro meet the yellow-brown waters of the Rio Solimões. As you continue further along the river the vegetation will become denser and denser, until you arrive at the small jetty where you’ll board a boat for the final part of your journey into the rainforest.
The lodge is small-scale, eco-friendly, and provides employment to people from the local communities. You’ll stay in your own comfortable wooden cabin, surrounded by the forest, and all of your food is included – home-cooked using ingredients found locally. You’ll also have warm water and electricity….most of the time, this is the Amazon after all!
Amazon – Guided Jungle Tours
For the next couple of days you’ll be living the jungle life, waking up to the sound of the wild all around you. Your activities will vary depending upon the season, and also the weather during your stay – the Amazon is quite unpredictable of course! Your guide knows the jungle like the back of his hand, and can take you jungle trekking, piranha fishing and even caiman spotting. He’ll also tell you all about life on the Amazon, and introduce you to some of the people who call it their home.
The Amazon – Manaus
Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to the Amazon. Depending on the time your flight leaves, you’ll head back to Manaus sometime this morning and be transferred to the airport ready to travel on to your next destination.
