Self Drive in Brazil
Being able to enjoy the freedom of the open road and stop off wherever you please makes a self-drive trip through Brazil very enjoyable. Drive through small towns, have picnics on deserted beaches or park up to take pictures. Our self drive trips include cars from a renowned organisation with offices throughout South America. Our self drive trips come with standard category A rental cars. If you would prefer to drive a larger car, just let your Travel Specialist know.
Where can I go?
We offer three very diverse self-drives: the Brazil colonial cities tour from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Horizonte which takes you through the hill country and past colonial gold towns to Ouro Preto. Our romantic self-drive trip Coconut Palm and Fishing Villages takes you along the coastal route from Salvador to Recife or vice versa. Our self-drive trip to the Pantanal which begins and ends in Campo Grande is perfect for families. Along the way, you can go river snorkelling or horseriding. We’ve intentionally kept the total driving distance per day short so that you don’t have to spend entire days driving. In doing so, you’ll have some time to look around when you arrive at a new location.
Category C: Volkswagen Gol 1.0 (or similar)
Category F: Volkswagen Voyage 1.6 (or similar)
Category G: Renault Duster 1.6 (or similar)
Model of car
Please note that the models listed above is just as an example and the actual model you will receive may vary within the category. If no cars within the category booked are available at time of pick up you will be offered a model of a higher category. If you would like to upgrade on the spot you can pay locally.
We’ve put together some useful information to help you when choosing to travel through Brazil by car. Once you book your trip with us you will receive more information as part of your travel documents. Alternatively, give our Travel Specialists a call for more information.
Since the 8th June 2015 the paper counterpart of your driver’s licence is no longer valid. The DVLA have advised that if you are hiring a car, in the UK or abroad, and you are asked to provide evidence of your driving record you will be able to do so by accessing the Share My Driving Licence service via the DVLA online for free.
