Sri Lanka is a truly stunning place and you get a warm welcome wherever you go. I’ve been all around the country and love the beaches, tea hills, rainforest and national parks. Oh, and the tasty curries. The true beauty of Sri Lanka, though, definitely lies in the breathtaking scenery throughout the whole country. While travelling by train through Ella, you’ll pass rolling, lush green tea hills.

Emma

The first time I visited Sri Lanka, I imagined stepping off the plane and into the same hustle and bustle that I’d experienced in India. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Peacefulness and calm seemed to follow me around; no doubt a result of the strong Buddhist influence. Being an island, there’s so much to experience here. My favourite moment has to be taking the train through Ella, watching that incredible scenery pass by and feeling part of the daily rhythm.

I spent three weeks travelling around this fascinating island and enjoyed every moment. Being a big foodie, Sri Lanka blew my mind with its range of delicious local food. The real highlight for me, though, was spotting the elephants at Udawalawe, as they’re one of my favourite animals.
