The tropical archipelago of Karimunjawa is still relatively undiscovered, offering a peaceful retreat with untouched nature and a laid-back island vibe. It’s a 2-hour boat journey off the coast of central Java, but well worth the effort. The island’s natural beauty and tranquillity provide the perfect contrast to the bustling energy of Java. You can unwind on white sandy beaches, grab a snorkel and explore vibrant coral reefs, and simply soak up the serene atmosphere.

Day 1 – Overnight in Jepara

The coming days will reveal a completely different, tropical side of Java. Karimunjawa is a true hidden gem and offers a perfect blend of untouched nature, a serene atmosphere, and authentic island culture. Before heading to this tropical archipelago, you will spend a night in the coastal city of Jepara. The city is also known as the capital of wood carving and furniture production, so you may want to pick up a beautifully carved souvenir. If you have the time, take a short walk to one of the nearby beaches. End the day with a local dinner and get a good night’s rest, as tomorrow you will need to head to the harbour early in the morning.

Day 2 – Arrive on Karimunjawa

In the morning, you’ll board the boat for the crossing to the paradise of Karimunjawa, a scenic two-hour journey. You’ll arrive around lunchtime and be treated to a delicious meal with a view of the turquoise sea. Your accommodation is a cosy bungalow located right on the white sandy beach, where the sound of the waves will lull you into relaxation. Take your time to unwind, enjoy the soft sand beneath your feet, or explore the island. Stroll along the coastline, immerse yourself in the untouched natural beauty, or dive into the crystal-clear waters to discover some of the vibrant marine life that makes this area so special.

Day 3 – Free time in Karimunjawa

Today is all about discovering the beauty of Karimunjawa at your own pace. You can explore the island by hiking through its lush nature, or you may choose to visit a local village to experience the authentic island life. Of course, if you’d rather take it easy, you can spend the day relaxing on the white sandy beaches, swimming and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere.

Day 4 – Snorkelling & Island Hopping – Optional Excursion

Another day of R&R on the picture-postcard island of Karimunjawa.

If you’d like to discover the marine life, we can arrange a snorkelling trip. You will meet your guide and captain, and set off on a scenic boat ride to your first snorkelling spot. Dive into the crystal-clear waters and enjoy the vibrant underwater world filled with colourful corals and marine life. After your first snorkelling session, the boat will drop anchor on a secluded island, where fresh fish will be grilled for your lunch over a campfire. You can then take a swim, relax on the soft sandy beach, or simply enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere. Following lunch, you’ll head to your second snorkelling spot before returning to the main bay.
