Day 1 – Arrival in Puerto Viejo
You’ll arrive at the Caribbean coast either by hire car or shuttle bus. Most likely, you’ll be ready for a bit of rest and relaxation in Puerto Viejo. Our accommodation is small bungalows set in lush tropical gardens – a cosy and unique feel to your stay in Puerto Viejo! Laze around next to the little swimming pool and drift off to the local music. Nothing is planned for the rest of the day, so kick back and relax.
Day 2 – Cahuita National Park
Today you’ll travel about 30 mins along the coast to the beautiful Cahuita National Park, where you’ll meet a local guide for a walk through the tropical forest – home to monkeys, sloths, coatis, and a whole host of less ‘cute’ creatures! Before heading back to Puerto Viejo, you’ll also have time for a spot of snorkelling around the colourful reef which lies just off the shore of the park.
Days 3-4 – Free time & departure
The rest of your time is free to do as much or as little as you wish – relax with a good book, swim in the warm Caribbean sea, or try to find the best cocktail bar in town. Life here is pretty easy. On day four you’ll wave goodbye to the relaxed vibes of Puerto Viejo and head off on the next leg of your Costa Rica journey.

In the evening we can arrange for you to visit a little ‘Rancho’ in the forest around Cahuita, to experience the produce and cooking techniques of the Caribbean. It’s pretty hands-on, so you’ll gather all the ingredients you’ll need for the evening’s meal from the farm before helping your local guide to prepare a Caribbean feast. For an authentic taste of Costa Rica, this is as good as it gets!
