Arrival in Puerto Viejo
You’ll arrive at the Caribbean coast either by hire car or shuttle bus. Most likely, you’ll be ready for a bit of rest and relaxation in Puerto Viejo. Our accommodation is small bungalows set in lush tropical gardens – a cosy and unique feel to your stay in Puerto Viejo! Laze around next to the little swimming pool and drift off to the local music. Nothing is planned for the rest of the day, so kick back and relax with a fruity cocktail.
Cahuita National Park
Today you’ll travel about 30mins along the coast to the beautiful Cahuita National Park, where you’ll meet a local guide for a walk through the tropical forest – home to monkeys, sloths, coatis, and a whole host of less ‘cute’ creatures! Before heading back to Puerto Viejo, you’ll also have time for a spot of snorkelling around the colourful reef which lies just off the shore of the park.
Free time & departure
The rest of your time is free to do as much or as little as you wish – relax with a good book, swim in the warm Caribbean sea, or try to find the best cocktail bar in town. Life here is pretty easy. On day four you’ll wave goodbye to the relaxed vibes of Puerto Viejo and head off on the next leg of your Costa Rica journey.

Cahuita beach village
If bustling surfer town Puerto Viejo isn’t your cup of tea then Cahuita, a smaller village 20 minutes drive away, is the perfect option for you. Same Caribbean vibe, soft sandy beaches and tropical fruit cocktails! If you’re staying here you can visit the National Park, boasting both rainforest trails and snorkelling on the reef jutting off the coast. You will stay in a small bungalow resort on the outskirts of town, walking distance to bars and restaurants. If you wanted to upgrade we also have an eco-resort for the ultimate relaxation.
