Kayak across glacier lakes and gaze up at snow-tipped peaks in Bariloche, a chocolate-box town ringed by the Andes, penned in by pine forests and dotted with fjord-like lakes. It’s Patagonia at its most picturesque. Sit back and soak up the gorgeous alpine scenery with a glass of local wine. Bariloche has a holiday atmosphere, drawing skiers and snowboarders to its slopes every year. The landscape that lies beyond the streets is just staggering, so lace up your walking boots and start to explore.

Your day-by-day itinerary
Arrival - Bariloche
When you arrive in Bariloche, you’ll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your cosy hotel with a friendly atmosphere, just outside the town centre. There are several hiking trails in the area, so you can spend the afternoon wandering in the hills and soaking up the beautiful surroundings. You can finish the day with a local glass of wine in the hotel restaurant, overlooking the deep blue Lake Nauhel Huapi.
Bariloche
This morning is free for you to explore Bariloche at your own pace. The Centro Civico (town centre) is just a 15 minute walk from your hotel. On the way into town, you’ll pass several shops selling ski gear and chocolate. In the main square, you’ll find the local tourist office and the Patagonia Museum, which is well worth a visit.
In the afternoon, you’ll head to Lago Gutierrez, a highland lake nestled between mountain peaks. After a short briefing, you’ll climb into a small two-person kayak and head out onto the water with your guide, crossing silent clear lakes, surrounded by towering peaks and dense pine forests. At around 6pm you’ll be dropped back at your hotel.
