Arrival in Kathmandu
When you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by your driver and whisked away to your accommodation. When you’ve freshened up and recovered from your flight, your Nepal trip will really begin and you can take a stroll around the area to soak up the atmosphere, perhaps find a good spot to eat. Definitely check out one of the many rooftop restaurants Thamel has to offer and order your first Nepalese thali.
City Tour
Today, you’ll explore Kathmandu with a local guide. Durbar Square is the ideal starting point, scattered with beautiful medieval temples. Take a seat on the steps, watch the world go by and soak up the spiritual atmosphere. You’ll also visit Swayambunath, the oldest temple in the valley, now overrun with scampering monkeys. Next, you’ll head for sacred Pashupatinath, where open-air cremations take place and Bouddhanath, a Buddhist monument in the heart of ‘Little Tibet’. Each temple is adorned with colourful prayer flags fluttering in the wind, set against snowy peaks and bright blue skies.
Departure
After breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel and continue with your adventure in Nepal. You’re very likely to be back in Kathmandu again at the end of the trip as it’s home to Nepal’s only international airport, so don’t worry if you haven’t managed to squeeze in all the sights.
