Pulau Pangkor
Overview
Pulau Pangkor is, without doubt, the best place for a truly authentic beach break in Malaysia. Just off the west coast, it’s a friendly hotspot for local holidaymakers at the weekends, and tranquil on weekdays. While the beaches may not be perfect in the traditional sense, the island has a very genuine vibe. Behind the beaches, there’s a lush rainforest just begging to be explored. It’s low-key, local and we love it.

Arrival on Pulau Pangkor
The crossing over to Pulau Pangkor, translated as ‘Beautiful Island’, takes around 40 minutes from the mainland. During this sunny stint on the island, you’ll stay in a relaxing beach hotel with welcoming rooms and a very inviting swimming pool. Behind the resort, the rainforest begins and it’s a great place to take a remote, uninterrupted wander or to just gaze at the horizon and merge with the scenery.
Pulau Pangkor - Free Time
You’ll spend three nights on the island, doing precisely as you please. Swing in a hammock, snooze in the shade, amble through the village and try some street-side satay in Pangkor Town. If you’re feeling active, climb to the top of Tortoise Hill and watch all of Pulau Pangkor spread out below you. However you choose to spend the time, you’ll get a taste of true Malaysian hospitality here.
Departure from Pulau Pangkor
Today marks the end of your time on Pulau Pangkor. From your hotel you’ll make your own way to the jetty where you’ll board the boat for the 40-minute crossing back to Lumut (you’ll buy your own ferry ticket locally).
If you want to enjoy the sun and sand of Pangkor for a bit longer, we can always extend your stay with few extra days.
