Arrival in Valparaiso
Today you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Santiago de Chile or the Maipo Valley by a private driver. From here you’ll begin your journey towards Valparaiso. The journey usually takes around 2 hours, and on arrival you’ll check in to your locally owned guesthouse in the heart of the town.
The districts here have cobbled streets and are dominated by restaurants and art galleries, so there’s plenty to explore this afternoon. This area has by far the cosiest atmosphere in the city as most of the hotels are actually converted houses with only a few rooms and often have a small gallery on the lower floor. This gives them a special charm and it feels almost like home.
City Tour of Valparaiso
Today, you’ll go on a city tour of Valparaiso with a guide. You’ll travel around by foot and public transport; the most authentic way to get around. At the start of the tour you’ll chat with your guide about what you’d like to see, so the content depends on you. At the end of the morning you can ask your guide about a great place to eat and after a tasty lunch you’ll have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Free time
Today is free for you to do as you please. There is still so much to see and do! You could take a bus to nearby ‘Viña del Mar’. This city is known for its beaches, residential palaces and parks with large trees and palms. It’s also one of the most popular beach towns in Chile and a great place to relax and walk along the coast.
Departure
Today you’ll say goodbye to this charming port city. After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll be picked up by a private driver and taken onto your next destination – whether that’s back to Santiago or Maipo Valley, or to the airport if you’re travelling further afield.
