Agrigento Temple Valley
2-day Agrigento Temple Experience - Italy
Overview
In Agrigento, you can find some of the best-preserved Greek temples in Italy. Agrigento was once one of the most prosperous cities in the Greek world. Today you can now marvel at the massive temple columns of the Temple Valley and wonder how the ancient Greeks managed to construct these awe-inspiring structures. Stay in a B&B right in the valley itself, among olive and citrus trees, with the limestone cliff coast in the Torre Salsa nature reserve within reach.

Arrival Agrigento
Today you will arrive in Agrigento, a small town on top of a hill and just a few kilometres from the beach on the southern coast of Sicily. The city itself, with its small, historic centre and many modern high-rises, is not the main attraction, but it’s the perfect base to explore the Temple Valley. From the hotel you have a view over the rolling countryside, the temples and the sea in the distance. The temples are impressively preserved and by walking through them you’ll learn about the history and the conditions under which they were built.

Departure Agrigento
Before leaving, make sure you explore the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve, with its sandy beach on the north side and walks on the limestone cliff coast with great views. In the afternoon, continue your Sicily trip and either head to the fertile countryside surrounding Piazza Armerina or travel to the baroque mountain village of Ragusa.
