Kitulgala: Rafting in the Rainforest
Bite-sized trip
Day 1 – Rafting in Kitulgala
Today, you will be collected early and driven to Kitulgala, where you will join an exhilarating rafting adventure. Once you’re kitted out with wetsuits, life jackets and helmets, there will be a safety briefing before you hit the water, accompanied by an expert local guide. You’ll glide along the picturesque Kelani River for around six kilometres, surrounded by lush rainforest and misty hills. The rapids range from gentle, beginner-friendly ripples to more exciting splashes that will send your heart racing, but as this experience is tailored to all levels, your guide will make sure it’s a fun experience for the family. After the excitement on the water, you will be taken back to your accommodation for the night, which is simple, comfortable and tucked away in the heart of nature. You will fall asleep to the sounds of the river flowing and the gentle buzz from the surrounding rainforest, a peaceful end to an adventurous day.
The rafting experience is suitable for children aged 7 years+.
Day 2 – Departure from Kitulgala
This morning, after a delicious breakfast, you’ll head to your next destination in Sri Lanka. Swap cool waters for cool hills and explore the tea plantations in Ella, where you can also conquer Little Adam’s Peak together, which is a nice, easy hike the children will easily manage. Or, visit one of the most sacred places of worship for Buddhists at the Temple of the Tooth, located in the lush green hills of Kandy.
